Midcentury Modern Klismos Walnut & Brass Chair by Harold Schwartz for Romweber

Midcentury Modern Klismos Walnut & Brass Chair by Harold Schwartz for Romweber

3,475.00

This rare and dramatic side chair was realized by the esteemed Mid-Century Modern Designer Harold Schwartz for the Romweber Furniture Co. in America, circa 1960. Handmade in handrubbed walnut with brass details throughout, this chair offers inimitably clean, modernist, and forward looking lines that appear as contemporary today as it did when it was created more than five decades ago. Realized in handrubbed walnut, the chair has a sinuously curved back stiles that tapers to its rounded tops that peak out just above the seat back. These stiles secure to the hourglass form back. The seats are gently curved, mirroring the convex angles of the back supports, and are undergirded by sculptural x-form aprons also in handrubbed walnut. The chair sits on four cylindrical klismos style legs with conical brass sabots with protruding circular caps at it base. With its iconic form- instantly recognizable to midcentury design connoisseurs- and understated, yet dramatic silhouette, this chair would be a winning addition to any style of interior. It has been newly reupholstered in a taupe and smoked sapphire Holly Hunt tweed and restored to mint condition.
