A rare Biedermeier chair in solid and veneered cherrywood with a somewhat oversized and very comfortable seat cushion attractively decorated in a geometric design in cream and topaz silk patterns The backrest is curved with a tilted shoulder and ends in a volute -shaped scroll, the center section is comprised of three vertical struts, delicately incised creating a striking and unusual pattern. The trapezoid shaped seat area is caned and in very good condition, the front legs are conical with spiral decorations, the back legs are elegantly splayed outwards. A striking and rare example from the Biedermeier period, possibly from the Hessen area in Germany. Restored to mint condition.
