About

This sophisticated floor lamp was realized by Karl Springer- one of the most influential and celebrated American designers of the 20th century, circa 1980. Inspired by the timeless form of Art Deco torchieres, yet reimagined according to Springer's inimitable modernist sensibility, this piece has been realized completely in handblown white Venetian Murano glass. It features a subtly domed base; a fluted cylindrical body with bands and either ends; and a bell shaped shade. The glass has a subtle opacity as well as an organic and effervescent quality, testifying to its handblown construction. Created by a legend of midcentury design, this piece appears as modern today as when it was created approximately forty years ago. As a result, it would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic midcentury to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The lamp is documented in the Karl Springer catalogue (see attached images).
