This stunning necklace was hand crafted by the esteemed French jewelry atelier, La Triomphe, circa 1970. It features a teardrop lapis circumscribed by textured 18k yellow gold resembling tendrils of elkhorn coral that ensconce the central stone. A triangular form extends from one of these tendrils featuring ten round brilliant cut diamonds weighing approximately 40 points. The pendant attaches to a chain consisting of segmented 18k yellow gold with an abundance of miniscule protrusions that suggest the texture of coral. This elegant brutalist necklace represents French Mid Century Modern jewelry design at its finest. It would be equally appropriate worn with jeans and a t shirt or a formal evening gown. It is marked with La Triomphe's identifying mark on the reverse. Excellent condition. 38 grams.
