Mid-Century Modern Six-Arm Chandelier in Chrome and Ebonized Walnut

4,475.00

This sophisticated Mid-Century Modern six-arm chandelier was realized in Germany, circa 1960. With its clean lines and superlative construction, it represents an exceptionally fine example of the time and place. The fixture hangs, via two chrome rods, from a pentagonally shaped canopy in the same materials. Rods of an equivalent diameter (also in chrome) connect to cylindrical chrome supports, each of which house an Edison bulb behind a reeded and conically shaped glass shade with a flat top, that resembles an abstracted flower. Three rectangular ebonized panels float in the center of the fixture, secured by two rectangular chrome beams above and below. This piece is a study in simple elegance, offering juxtaposing forms of circles, squares, rectangles and cones. Such contrasts recur in the materials, imbuing this piece with a vibrant and dynamic energy. This is a compelling example of midcentury American design, perfect for collectors of the period or for someone simply looking for a sophisticated fixture to light a domestic or corporate interior. The chandelier has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. It accommodates six Edison bulbs in total, offering as much as 600 watts of light. It can also easily be converted to LED for even greater illumination, if preferred. The height can be adjusted to suit. Excellent condition.
