Art Deco Acacia & Gray Mohair Bench Designed/ Documented by Gilbert Rohde

3,975.00

This elegant Art Deco bench/ vanity stool was designed by Gilbert Rohde- one of the most celebrated and influential designers of the 20th century- in the United States, circa 1940. It features slightly splayed rectilinear legs- adjoined by cylindrical spindles- that connect to the side apron of the same proportions. The bench offers a streamlined seat that meets a gently sloped seat. A study in the simplicity of great design, this piece is sure to delight Rohde collectors as well as those with an appreciation for first-rate objects. With its refined palate and clean modernist lines, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. It has been newly reupholstered in a slate gray mohair and restored to mint condition. Documented on Page 121 of the 1940 Gilbert Rohde catalogue (see image).
