Art Deco Satin Nickeled Bronze and Frosted Glass Chandelier Signed by Degué

12,475.00

This gorgeous and quintessentially Art Deco chandelier was produced by the esteemed French maker Degué, circa 1935. It features six pentagonal side panels, each signed Degué, with exotic floral and foliate motifs evoking banana leaves and tropical dahlias. The domed bottom panel (also signed) includes the similar motifs inscribed into the frosted glass, though it is unique in both form and pattern from the other panels. The various panels are separated by a reeded satin nickel bronze frame with ball rivets in the same material. The canopy features a starburst chevron pattern with ray-like striations extending outwards from the center. The attaching rod features cut-out forms that evoke the Silhouette of a skyscraper. This is a rare and stunning example of French Art Deco, and a real find for any serious collector of the period. It accommodates nine candelabra based bulbs. The chandelier has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. The height can be adjusted to suit.
