About

This stunning and dramatic "Omnibus" chaise was realized by the fabled Vladimir Kagan- one of the preeminent names of 20th Century design- in America, circa 1970. Sitting on lucite legs (which are in particularly excellent condition) this piece features a tufted back and seat, consisting of four channels that seamlessly continue from the seat to the back. The supports on each side offer curved streamline arms dynamically juxtaposed with rectilinear cut outs at a right angle at the base. The chaise sits on translucent lucite legs, creating a stunning material contrast to the plush slate velvet. Hailing from Kagan's iconic "Omnibus" series, and featuring the dramatic (and completely unique) forms that only Kagan could create, this piece is sure to delight discerning enthusiasts of Mid Century Modern design. With inflections of Machine Age Art Deco reinterpreted in the most modern of sensibilities, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Deco to contemporary. Tom Ford once opined that Vladimir Kagan's design retain their "wow factor", their "potency and flair" as much today as ever before. It has been newly reupholstered in a beautiful slate velvet and is in mint restored condition.
