About

This stunning streamlined sideboard or cabinet was realized in France, circa 1930. It features a three-stepped skyscraper style top executed in exotic marble whose rich variegated texture offers an organic counterpoint to the geometric form of the piece. The marble is circumscribed on every side by black lacquer. Each side offers a spacious compartment with two shelves on the interior and fluted detailing on the exterior. The compartments have streamlined bronzed pulls with stylized foliate detailing. In the centre of the piece, there is a translucent glass window framed in nickel above which there are three drawers in bookmatched burled walnut with bronzed pulls to match the side cabinets. The piece sits on a streamlined skyscraper style black lacquer base. Incorporating quintessential forms and materials (bronze, lacquer, walnut and exotic marble) of French high style Art Deco, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of the period. Its clean lines and elegant form make it as versatile as it is stunning, however. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Deco to contemporary. This piece would also work exceptionally well as a dry bar. It has been restored to mint condition.
