Designed by Italian-American designer Maurizio Tempestini, this Mid-Century Brutalist table lamp for the Laurel Lamp Company is a masterful blend of sculptural artistry and functionality. Crafted in the 1960s, the lamp exemplifies the Brutalist design approach, which prioritizes raw textures, bold forms, and an interplay of light and shade.

This striking piece features a minimal cylindrical base which supports an arresting sculptural body, characterized by textured and irregular forms that evoke an organic, hand-forged aesthetic. The evidence of the hand and intuitive sculptural processes are on full display. Constructed from cast metal, the surface is darkened with a patinated finish, adding depth and emphasizing the Brutalist aesthetic. Its sculptural quality makes it as much a statement piece as functional lighting.

The Laurel Lamp Co., renowned for producing high-quality, innovative lighting designs, collaborated with designers like Tempestini to create pieces that married form and functionality. Fitted with a custom gallery shade that elevates the proportions and careful balance achieved in this piece. Newly rewired to American Standards, this lamp accommodates two Edison base bulbs achieving up to 200 watts of light. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
