About

This graphic and sculptural pair of table lamps were realized, circa 1950, by the renowned Mid Century lighting atelier, Maison Arlus. Recalling the timelessly elegant forms of Constantin Brancusi, they offer curvilinear bodies finished in black enamel that taper to fine points at their zenith and apex. Textured glass shades, etched with a subtle wave design sit in the center of each form. The enamel supports adjoin a base of the same material via a raised square platform in polished brass. The top edges of the base are beveled, while the undersides are slightly convex- a design detail that testifies to their impeccable, painstakingly meticulous artisanal construction. While these pieces are technically table lamps, they are perhaps more works of art, which are rare individulally and even more so as a pair. They have been newly rewired to American standards and are in excellent condition.
