This stunning and artisanal lamp was hand crafted and painted in the United States, circa 1960. It features a cylindrical body, offering a wealth of organic texture as the clay has agglomerated in places suggesting paint impasto on a canvas and testifying to its handmade construction. There are tones of dove gray, lapis lazuli and onyx throughout. The rod and orbital finial of the lamp are composed of polished nickel, offering a lustrous metallic counterpoint to the muted earth tones throughout the body of the lamp. With its soothing palate and wealth of abstract texture, this is an exceptional example of Mid Century ceramics that appears as contemporary today as when it was created some sixty years ago. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. Signed "Koryn" on the bottom. It accommodates three Edison based bulbs, offering up to 300 watts of light. The lamp comes presented with a new custom lamp shade.
