Pair of Modernist Curved Nickel & Brass Andirons, Manner of Karl Springer
About
Handmade by artisans in New York state, this pair of modernist andirons embody the old world craftsmanship and design aesthetic of a bygone era. With their skyscraper style construction, consisting three polished brass bands- of which the central one is raised and bordered in nickel. They gently crest at their apex, giving them an elegant and dynamic form. These andirons suggest modern interpretations of classic Art Deco designs recalling the work of the celebrated Mid Century designer Karl Springer. They are supported by rectangular blackened iron streamlined arms that adjoin the backs of the andirons at a perpendicular angle. With their clean modernist lines and luxurious materials, these andirons would be a winning addition to any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. Excellent condition.
