Italian Mid-Century Modern Swing Arm Wall Sconce in Brass and Black Enamel
Italian Mid-Century Modern Swing Arm Wall Sconce in Brass and Black Enamel
This stunning wall sconce, realized in Italy, circa 1950, offers a wealth of stunning contrasts in both materials and forms. A black arm curves upwards from an asymmetrically cut base in the same material, attached with brass cylindrical supports with ringed striations. The enamel arm hooks downwards at its apex where it connects to an angled rod in lustrous brass. On one end of the brass arm is a handle in black lacquer and on the other is a gently billowing conical shade of the same material. A shiny brass rod with a ball end extends from the back of the shade- a form that is echoed in the power switch on the bronze base that connects to the shade. This is an striking example of Italian midcentury design, perfect for collectors of the period or for someone looking for a gorgeous and versatile wall sconce for their domestic or professional space. The black enamel arm swings from left to right, while both the brass arm and the shade are omnidirectional. It has been newly rewired to American standards. Excellent condition.
