Art Deco Machine Age Walnut Cocktail Table w/ Inset Vitrolite Top by Modernage
This elegant Art Deco Machine Age Walnut Cocktail Table w/ Inset Vitrolite Top by Modernage originated in the United States, circa 1935. The design presents a low rectangular top set into a narrow walnut frame and fitted with a dark, mirror-like Vitrolite inset. The top floats above a sculptural support composed of two opposing, curved walnut arcs that sweep from the front edge to the back, creating a strong Machine Age silhouette. A stepped rectangular plinth base balances the composition and includes a raised central pad that echoes the tabletop’s rectilinear geometry. Crafted in rich warm-brown walnut with a high-gloss finish, the table emphasizes smooth, continuous grain and precision shaping in its curved supports and crisp frame. The inset Vitrolite top provides a deep black reflective surface that contrasts with the wood while reinforcing the streamlined 1930s aesthetic. The piece has been restored and is a distinctive example of domestic Machine Age furniture combining engineered curve-work and polished glass for a refined Art Deco presence. The piece is in mint restored condition.
