Mid-Century Hand-Blown Two-Tier Stepped Murano Glass Tronchie Chandelier
This elegant Mid-Century Modernist Murano Glass Tronchi Chandelier w/ Brass Fittings originated in Italy, circa 1970. The fixture is composed of multiple graduated tiers of clear, hand-blown tronchi tubes, elongated vertically fluted glass elements that terminate in scalloped star-shaped lower apertures. Grouped in concentric rings, the tubes form a cascading, stepped silhouette that tapers toward the bottom and generates a prismatic, shimmering field of light when illuminated.
The glass is mounted to a circular brass framework that conceals the bulbs and organizes the composition into balanced, overlapping layers. A polished brass chain and canopy provide suspension and offer a warm metallic contrast to the cool clarity of the glass. When lit, the textured surfaces refract and diffuse light to create depth, soft glints, and a strong vertical rhythm that underscores the piece's elegant tiered geometry and late twentieth century Italian sensibility. Newly rewired to American Standards and with height that can be adjusted to suit, this chandelier accommodates Eight Candelabra Base Bulbs achieving up to 640 watts of light. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
