Mid-Century Murano Glass & Brass Banded Detailed Pendant Chandelier
This elegant Mid-Century Modern Murano Glass & Brass Pendant Chandelier originated in Italy, circa 1960. The fixture centers on a hand-blown opaline globe whose frosted matte surface rises gracefully into a tapered glass neck that emphasizes the object’s refined profile. A continuous polished brass band encircles the globe at its equator and provides a strong horizontal accent that is balanced by a matching brass finial and a lower ring. The neck is finished with a faceted brass collar and loop that attach to a slender brass stem and a domed canopy, together composing a clean, architectural silhouette that reads as both sculptural and purposeful. The interior conceals the socket assembly within the neck and canopy so the exterior presents luminous white glass set against warm golden brass hardware. Proportions remain compact and geometric, reflecting restrained Italian Mid-Century design through simple volumes, clear planes, and thoughtful material contrast. Polished brass fittings are executed to harmonize with the band and finial and to reinforce the piece’s measured, architectural presence while allowing the blown glass to remain the focal element. Excellent vintage Condition, this piece has been rewired to US standards and height can be adjusted to suit. Accommodates one edison based bulb offering 100 watts of light.
