Mid-Century Polished Brass 8-Arm Sculptural Chandelier by Oscar Torlasco
This luminous Mid-Century Polished Brass 8-Arm Sculptural Chandelier by Oscar Torlasco originated in Italy, circa 1955. The composition centers on a compact spherical hub from which eight sinuous arms extend in a starburst configuration, and each arm is smoothly formed in polished warm-brass that tapers to a stylized terminal housing, producing a linear, organic silhouette. A straight vertical stem rises to a matching round canopy, balancing the sweeping radial geometry and providing a disciplined, architectural profile. The design emphasizes fluid, sculptural line over ornament and reflects Mid-Century Modern ideals of form and function, while the polished brass finish animates the arms and the eight candelabra-base sockets offer bright, evenly distributed illumination. The interplay of curved arms and the disciplined central stem creates a dynamic tension between movement and order, giving the chandelier sculptural clarity that anchors a room without ornament. Viewed from multiple vantage points the fixture reads as both an elegant centerpiece and an architectural accent. The wiring has been sensitively updated and the fixture has been rewired to standards of the United States. Excellent vintage Condition, this chandelier accommodates eight candelabra based bulbs offering 480 watts of light. Height can be adjusted to suit.
