Art Deco Demilune Wrought-Iron Spiral & Noir St Laurent Marble Console Table
This elegant Art Deco Demilune Wrought-Iron Spiral & Noir St Laurent Marble Console Table originated in France, circa 1930. The design pairs a shallow demilune top of richly veined Noir St Laurent marble with an open wrought-iron base. The marble slab is cut to a gentle half-moon profile and polished to a high sheen that emphasizes dramatic white veining across the black field. Beneath, a narrow iron gallery follows the curve of the top and secures the stone to the supporting frame. The base is hand-forged wrought iron finished in deep black and detailed with a repeating spiral motif executed in rope-twist round bar. A single elegantly curved leg descends from the gallery, formed from two slightly tapering iron straps joined by stacked spiral medallions, and terminates on a rounded plinth foot that anchors the console to the wall. The hammered textures of the straps and the linear precision of the spirals create a lively contrast of surface and line. This console presents a refined expression of French Art Deco metalwork and stonecraft. The piece is in excellent vintage condition.
