Tiffany Studios Bronze & Favrile Slag Glass Pine Needle Pattern Picture Frame
This striking Tiffany Studios Bronze & Favrile Slag Glass Pine Needle Pattern Picture Frame originated in the United States, circa 1910. The composition features a broad rectangular bronze surround pierced with an intricate pine-needle motif that radiates from multiple clustered points. Variegated panels of Favrile slag glass sit set behind the openwork, their mottled greens, ambers and subtle opalescent tones filtering light through the pattern. The sight opening is bordered by a stepped inner rabbet and includes a semi-circular thumb cut at the top of the backing for removal of the photograph or mount. Signed Tiffany Studios marked number 940 . The frame is executed as a single metal surround with finely cut negative spaces that articulate the stylized botanical design, while the glass is secured directly behind the bronze overlay to create layered depth. The bronze displays a soft green patina that complements the glass colors and emphasizes the linear tooling around the opening. Intake identifies the maker as Tiffany Studios and the overall design aligns with early 20th century decorative work. The piece presents as a robust example of metal overlay with slag glass infill and reads strongly as a collector-quality decorative object. Presented in excellent vintage condition.
