This elegant pair of modernist sconces were handblown in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production. They feature elongated conical shades realized in an iridescent semi translucent Murano glass replete with an abundance of 24kt yellow gold flecks. The bodies are cinched near their nadirs with polished brass bands- that offer a beautiful tonal and material counterpoint to the ethereal translucent Murano glass- and capped at their bases with fluted orbital embellishments also in clear iridescent Murano glass. The sconces offer spherical brass finials at their nadirs which reiterate the round glass forms above, and attach to square polished brass back plates. With their clean modernist lines and beautiful glass quality, these sconces would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. They have been newly rewired to American standards and are in excellent vintage condition.
