Pair of Italian Mid-Century Double Shaded Textured Glass & Brass Wall Sconces
This elegant Pair of Mid-Century Double Shade Textured Glass & Brass Wall Sconces originated in Italy, circa 1960. The matching duo presents a vertical rectangular brass backplate from which two gently curved arms sweep outward to support twin textured glass shades that read as flared, slightly conical panels of frosted, ribbed glass. Each shade diffuses light through a soft, linear pattern and is anchored along its lower edge by small cylindrical mounting studs and a tapered finial that provide a refined, geometric counterpoint to the flowing glass forms. The fittings are executed in warm brushed brass with a muted satin finish that complements the frosted white glass and reinforces the composed, mid-century profile. Each arm terminates in a pair of candelabra sockets that allow for layered, directional illumination when the sconces are lit, creating both ambient wash and focused highlights. The overall composition balances sculptural presence with restrained elegance and reflects the sophisticated lighting vocabulary of the period. Each sconce accommodates two candelabra based bulbs offering 120 watts of light. Excellent vintage condition, these sconces have been rewired to US standards.
