Mid-Century Abstracted Alabaster Organic Sculpture signed by Julie Small Gambly
Mid-Century Abstracted Alabaster Organic Sculpture signed by Julie Small Gambly
This Mid-Century Modernist Abstract Sculpture in Alabaster on a Marble base was created by the artist Julie Small Gambly in the United States Circa 1985. Featuring gorgeous veining in the alabaster and a rectilinear solid marble base, this gorgeously sculpted geometric abstraction uses melding forms to achieve beautiful curved silhouettes from all angles of viewing, carefully rounded and defined transitional edges dance and emerge then disappear from perception with the play of light on the piece. While in a weighty material, the sculpture rests on two feet that just barely kiss the top surface of the marble base, giving the entire sculpture a sense of revolt against gravity and continual movement. A brilliant example of the artist's practice, this bold mixture of organic and geometric approach to sculpture is a uniquely strong and elegant work, styling brilliantly within a wide array of interiors and design movements. Signed on the body of the sculpture. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
