This highly unique and materially exquisite Mid-Century Modernist Shadowbox Sideboard in Book-Matched and Burled Carpathian Elm with Macassar Inlays and Antiqued Brass Drawers signed by Mastercraft originates from the United States, Circa 1970. A sleek and sophisticated geometric piece, the Sideboard features a shadowbox front with carefully beveled and milled lining in burled Carpathian elm, a rare wood with nearly unmatched aesthetic quality sourced from the Carpathian mountain range in Central Europe. The front surface has cabinet door rendered in a stunning textural brass composed of geometric swoops in a crenelated motif that seamlessly integrate with one another resting beneath the shadowbox form of the cabinet. The outside form of the cabinet is a rectilinear and sleek with lovely proportions, with the front cabinet doors floating casting a lovely shadow farther revealing the rhythm and movement of the brass doors. The top surface of the piece has square inlays in Macassar Ebony featuring lovely striated texturing and adding a subtle and stunning detailing to this geometric piece. An excellent example of Mid-Century Modernist design and beautiful example of Mastercraft, this sideboard will style beautifully in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors.
