This Mid-Century Modernist table lamp, crafted in France circa 1970, is a striking example of sculptural lighting design that combines bold geometric forms with luxurious materials. The lamp features a rectilinear base, composed of black lacquer that lends it a sleek, glossy finish. The deep black surface creates a striking contrast with the rectilinear brass elements which rise from each of the back corners, supporting the shade and elegantly framing the pyrite specimen, while bringing a warm metallic glow to the design. Adding a dramatic and one-of-a-kind element, the lamp is adorned with a pyrite (fool’s gold) specimen, mounted prominently as the centerpiece. The natural crystalline structure of the pyrite introduces texture and raw organic beauty, juxtaposing the lamp's clean, angular frame with nature’s complexity.
